Dear HLS Families!
What a great start to the year! Our students have started learning their first music song and exploring the artwork of Vincent van Gogh. They have created their own art pieces, which we will save for our End-of-Year Art Show.
With cooler days ahead, we are excited to enjoy our playground even more and make the most of the beautiful fall weather!

Thank you, everyone, for being so flexible and adjusting to the new carline route!
Staff will remain at the front entrance for approximately 5–10 minutes after start of the day in case you arrive a little late. Once the front door has been closed and locked,
please proceed to the back entrance and ring the doorbell.
We now have new doorbells installed in multiple locations, so we will be able to hear the bell and assist you.
Carline Drop-Off & Pick-Up (Red Arrows)
Families using the carline should use the covered main drive-through entrance during our regular drop-off and pick-up times. (8:15 AM - 8:30 AM & 3:30 PM - 3:45 PM) Please follow the route indicated by the red arrows on the map.
Walk-Up Drop-Off & Pick-Up (Yellow Arrows)
For families who prefer to walk their children to the building, our new walk-up parking area will be located on the side of the building. You will then proceed to walk to the front door.
We recommend that families who are walking their children in or picking them up via walk-up, drive through the Heritage Trace Pkwy entrance and drive around the back of the building, following the yellow arrows on the map. This route will allow you to easily enter and exit without interfering with the carline traffic.
Late Arrivals & Early Pick-Up
If you arrive late to school or need to pick up your child during the school day, please park and proceed to the back door. The new front entrance will be used only during regular drop-off and pick-up times, as it does not currently have a doorbell.
Our students have been enjoying learning about our Master Artists and have completed their first art project! We are so excited to see their creativity come to life!
This coming Wednesday, students will be creating a project inspired by Mary Cassatt’s techniques, and we could use a few volunteers to help!
We have put together an Art Calendar for the first semester, and we are looking for volunteers to assist with projects. If you would like to sign up for this Wednesday or for any of our future project days, we would be so grateful for your help!
Art volunteers will help with:
Setting up and preparing art supplies
Assisting students during the projects
Helping clean up the art space afterward
No special art experience is needed, just a willingness to help and encourage our students!

September 30 – House Spirit Day
We are looking for a few volunteers to help make our upcoming House Spirit Day a success!
We have a fun afternoon planned where students will compete with their House teams as they work through an exciting obstacle course and participate in some friendly House competition.
We are looking for parents who can help volunteer and will assist with the following: setting up, manning an activity station and helping with clean-up afterward.
Set-Up: Begins at 1:45 PM House Day Festivities: 2:40 PM - 3:30 PM
If you are available to help, we would greatly appreciate it! Your help will allow us to create a fun and memorable afternoon for our students.

Please Pack a Lunch
Snail Science at the Fort Worth Museum
Students will have the opportunity to join the Fort Worth Museum staff for a hands-on laboratory activity focused on snails! (Lab activity will run until aprox 11:45 AM)
During the Snail Science Lab, students will:
Observe live snails
Learn about the different parts of a snail
Conduct a fun experiment to discover what snails like to eat
After the laboratory activity, we will enjoy a picnic lunch together. Please bring your own lunch.
Following lunch, students will have time to explore the museum and enjoy all that it has to offer!

These trips are designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning in a variety of settings. However, please note that HLS does not provide transportation or chaperones for these field trips. It is essential that a parent or guardian is present, or arrangements are made with another family to ensure your child is supervised at all times. This ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
