STUDENTS
AND
HOUSE SYSTEM
Can competition and camaraderie coexist?
At Highlands Latin School, they do, through our house system.
At first glance, competition and camaraderie can seem at odds. Yet at Highlands, they work hand in hand. Rooted in a long-standing tradition of forming students into strong, unified communities, the house system helps accomplish what many schools find elusive: belonging, leadership development, and joyful school spirit.

The House System at Highlands Latin School
At Highlands, the house system provides students with a strong sense of identity and belonging, establishes meaningful traditions on a young campus, and offers abundant leadership opportunities, all while keeping school life fun.Because each student belongs to a house, there is a natural motivation to do one’s best. Students learn that their actions matter, not only for themselves but for their community. Our student leaders are reminded that future generations will look back to them as early examples and builders of their houses.
Competition with Purpose
House points are awarded in three primary areas: community service, spirit, and social engagement.Spirit competitions may include dodgeball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, kickball, and volleyball.Community service points recognize participation in service projects.Spirit is defined as eager participation in school life with a kind, helpful, and Christ-honoring attitude.Through the house system, Highlands Latin School fosters a culture where competition sharpens character and camaraderie strengthens community, forming students who strive for excellence together, grounded in biblical example.
